WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Nanette Barragán (CA-44) released the following statement after yesterday’s Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) exports study released by the Department of Energy, that found the approval of additional LNG exports will raise domestic gas prices, worsen the climate crisis, and harm environmental justice communities.
“The Department of Energy’s study confirms what frontline communities have long known: increasing LNG exports worsens pollution, drives up domestic energy costs, and accelerates the climate crisis,” said Rep. Barragán. “These impacts disproportionately harm environmental justice communities, who already suffer from cumulative pollution and health inequities. I urge the Administration to deny the remaining LNG export applications to protect vulnerable communities from further harm.”
