Barragán Supports L.A. Declaration of Emergency on Coronavirus

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 4, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán issued the following statement on Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Chair of L.A. County Board of Supervisors Kathryn Barger declaring a state of emergency regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019:

“The coronavirus epidemic requires a coordinated, fully-funded, whole-of-government response to keep Americans safe. It is the right move for Los Angeles to declare a state of emergency to make sure the proper city, county, state and federal resources can be coordinated and deployed.

“Congress is working to advance a strong emergency funding supplemental package that fully addresses the scale and seriousness of this public health crisis, which we hope to bring to the Floor as soon as today. This will be new funding and not stolen from other important public health priorities.”
