WASHINGTON, D.C.—Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán’s (D-San Pedro) statement on voting against the Republican majority’s fifth continuing resolution:
“Here we go again. Another month, another continuing resolution. I know all too well what it is like to live paycheck-to-paycheck; that was out of necessity. This is no way to run a household or a business, let alone a country. It is a disservice to our country and harmful to the military, our government agencies, to the victims of natural disasters, and to the American people.
Additionally, the Republican majority continues to be all talk on DREAMers and continues to hold them hostage. Despite having an opportunity today to hold a vote on the DREAM Act or the several other bipartisan vehicles to provide a solution to DACA recipients, they did not. It is tragic that 800,000 DREAMers continue to live in fear because the Republican leadership will not allow a vote on any bipartisan legislation. I will continue to fight to get protection for these young, hard-working immigrants who enrich this country.”
