Rep. Barragán Challenges Reps. Ciciline and Clark with World Series Wager

LOS ANGELES, CA – As the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox prepare for Game One of the 2018 World Series, Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán (D-CA) has made a friendly bet on the outcome of the series with two fellow Members of Congress –Rep. David N. Cicilline (D-RI) and Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA).

Barragán’s wager with Cicilline and Clark has the losing Member wearing the other team’s jersey for a day and giving a congratulatory speech on the floor of the House of Representatives to the winning team.

Clark also bet Barragán New England clam chowder and lobster rolls. Should the Red Sox prevail, Barragán will provide cuisine from a local restaurant in her Southern California district.

“I have been a loyal fan of the Dodgers ever since I was a little girl. I used to watch games with my dad and I hold those memories near and dear to my heart,” said Rep. Barragán. “I’m excited for the World Series and can’t wait to beat the Red Sox. Let’s go, Dodgers!”

“As a kid, there was nothing better than to spend a summer afternoon at Fenway hoping to see Pudge slug one over the Green Monster. As someone who cursed the names of Bucky Dent and Bill Buckner more times than I care to remember, it has been surreal to witness the run of greatness that the Red Sox have been on since 2004,” said Rep. Cicilline. “Tomorrow night can’t come soon enough. Go Sawx!”

“There’s nothing better than being in Fenway Park surrounded by the nation’s most dedicated baseball fans,” said Rep. Clark. “Thrilled that Red Sox Nation is on its way to another World Series victory! Go Sox!”
