PLEASE BE ADVISED: REAL ID Requirement for White House Entry Beginning May 7

Beginning on May 7, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be mandating REAL ID for U.S. citizens seeking to access certain federal facilities, including the White House Complex.

In line with DHS guidance, visitors will be unable to access the White House Complex beginning May 7, 2025, without a valid form of government-issued ID: a REAL ID or a passport. Non-REAL IDs will no longer be accepted for any guests, including for official meetings, tours, and other events on the White House Complex.

Any guest who is unable to present a REAL ID or a valid passport—including VIP guests, members of the press, and Members of Congress—will not be admitted to the White House Complex.

REAL ID-compliant cards will have one of the following markings in the upper portion of the card. If the card does not have one of these markings, it is not REAL-ID compliant and will not be accepted as a valid form of ID to enter the White House Complex.
