Barragán On Trumpcare Vote In The House

Washington, DC – Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán (D-CA) issued a statement reacting to the passage of Trumpcare in the House by a vote of 217-213.  Rep. Barragán voted against the bill.

“Today was a sad day. The American people lost. Republicans clapped and cheered after they voted to take away health care coverage from millions of Americans. Their vote means that Americans with pre-existing conditions will be pushed off their insurance or pay higher premiums. Perhaps one of the most shocking results is that rape would now be considered a pre-existing condition under Trumpcare.

Trumpcare is not law – it still has to go to the Senate for a vote.  I will continue to fight Trumpcare because it will lead to higher costs, less coverage, gut key protections and steal from Medicare.”
