SAN PEDRO, Calif. — Today, Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán announced that more help is here for local businesses and jobs, as the Small Business Administration’s Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program will begin accepting applications today, Thursday, April 8, 2021. Barragán helped secure additional funding for the program as part of the American Rescue Plan’s support for small businesses. The program includes a total of more than $16 billion in grants for shuttered venues nationwide.

Local business operators can get more information on how to apply at SBA.gov HERE.

“In Los Angeles County, our small businesses have been hit hard by this pandemic, especially those that depend on public audiences. We’ve seen so many local minority- and women-owned venues have to close their doors. This program will help them re-open,” Congresswoman Barragán said. “The opening of the Shuttered Venue Operators Grants program is another pivotal step toward defeating COVID-19, getting people back in jobs and revitalizing our economy. These grants will help our local shuttered venue operators put paychecks back in workers’ pockets, avoid permanent closures, cover rent payments, and more.”
