Barragán Urges Transparency & a Public Process as Water Replenishment District Seeks to Fill its Next GM Position

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 7, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán released a statement reiterating her deep concerns about the Water Replenishment District of Southern California (WRD) Board of Directors’ rushed actions to force out its current general manager and hire a new general manager.

“Not knowing what the WRD Board intends to discuss in closed session today, I can only hope that this is not the Board’s way of handling business behind closed doors to avoid public opposition.

“Unfortunately, given the Board’s previous and ongoing conduct, it has already raised a sense of mistrust.

“The Board has heard loudly and clearly from the members of Congress, state legislators and leaders of the cities in its service area that it should conduct a thorough and transparent search to fill its next General Manager position.”
