CARSON, CA — Today, Congresswoman Nanette Barragán (CA-44) hosted her 8th Annual Senior Briefing and Health Fair at the Carson Community Center, connecting over 1,000 seniors in California’s 44th Congressional District with free, accessible health care services. Over 50 vendors, health care providers, and resource partners came together to ensure seniors received services such as free blood pressure checks, dental screenings, health screenings, eye exams, and thyroid exams. The Congresswoman was also joined by special guest speaker, California State Senator Ben Allen, representing the 24th Senate District.
Congresswoman Barragán hosted her annual Senior Fair this year after Trump and Republicans refused to renew the health care tax credits that lower premium costs, and made their cuts to Medicaid, soon to go into effect, which are ripping health care away from millions of Americans. Congresswoman Barragán provided the seniors with an update on how House Democrats are fighting to secure an affordable America in which constituents can afford accessible health care, housing, groceries, and other basic goods.
“With health care and everyday costs rising, seniors should not have to choose between getting the care they need and paying their other bills,” said Congresswoman Barragán. “That’s why events like our Senior Fair are so important—we’re bringing health care providers and community resources directly to seniors in our district. While Republicans in Washington continue pushing policies that make health care and basic necessities more expensive, House Democrats will keep fighting to make sure every senior in our community can afford the care they need and live with dignity.”
