WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Nanette Barragán (CA-44) released the following statement after a ceasefire and hostage release deal was announced between Israel and Hamas, following more than 15 months of war.
“Today’s announcement of a cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas is welcome news for millions of Palestinians and Israelis,” said Rep. Barragán. “For months, the war has taken a devastating toll on the region and the world, with tens of thousands of deaths, and millions of lives upended. I want to thank President Biden and his team for working tirelessly to help negotiate this deal and negotiate a safe return of the hostages to their families, who have waited the last 15 months in agony. The agreement today secures the release of many of those hostages, and begins the process for others to come home. It’s critical all phases of the ceasefire agreement are implemented to ensure the return of all hostages, and a stable peace in the region. Today, we can begin to repair and rebuild from this unprecedented war.”
