FAA Bill Passes with Barragán Provision to Enhance Transportation Security

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán applauded the passage of the FAA Reauthorization Act, H.R. 302. The legislation includes a key provision to enhance transportation security from Rep. Barragán’s Strengthening Local Transportation Security Capabilities Act, which passed the House earlier this year.

The Barragán provision directs the Transportation Security Administration to provide stakeholders a framework for establishing integrated operations centers responsible for overseeing daily operations.

“I am happy to see my legislation included in the FAA reauthorization and passed with bipartisan support. This provision, taken with others, will provide information to enhance the capabilities of local transportation security stakeholders to both prevent and respond to terrorist attacks,” said Rep. Barragán. “Threats to transportation systems have not dissipated and we must not let our guard down.”
